The most common problems with muscles are the aches and pains of daily use. Overuse of a muscle can cause soreness or cramping, and extreme overuse can result in a muscle strain or tear. Muscle aches can also be caused by nervous tension, lack of movement, poor diet and even dehydration. Unfortunately, in our society, particularly during the pandemic, these are common issues that our bodies are faced with.
Massage therapy can address many of these issues, and be a great support to treatment you may be receiving from other health professionals (osteopaths, chiropractors, movement specialists). Treatment and assessment allows me to find the root cause of the issue, which is almost always located elsewhere in the body and not at the site of pain.
" My massage may feel that it isn't a deep treatment, but through rhythmic repetition and a variety of techniques, structures from the most superficial to the most deep are being engaged and treated. "
Aside from regular massage therapy treatments, I have found a personal interest in the areas of lymphatic work, fascial mobility and TMJ work. I have additional education and certification in these areas, as well as a background in complementary Eastern modalities. I am excited and happy to share the soothing techniques and tools of some of these wonderful modalities with the community of Almonte and the Ottawa area.
