WORKSHOPS FOR THE COMMUNITY - a healing continuum

What is a healing continuum you might ask?
A continuum is something that keeps on going, changing slowly over time. A 'healing continuum' embraces the concept of always healing. Exploring self-care offers a space to better understand yourself and your body, the challenges that you experience in daily life, and ways of taking care of your body, mind and spirit.*

Anne has developed these workshops and learning opportunities to engage people in a safe and relaxed environment, focusing on self care of specific areas of the human body in the Wellness Workshops, and on stress and balance in the Happy + Healthy Self Care Series.

The Learning Circle self-care workshops differ from traditional classroom style courses, in the hands-on approach to discovery, learning and engagement . Experience health and wellness workshops in an open yet intimate and small group setting.

Come in loose fitting comfortable clothing and personal water as you will be doing some movement in the workshop!

Anne has developed these workshops and learning opportunities to engage people in a safe and relaxed environment, focusing on self care of specific areas of the human body.

Each workshop explores the anatomy of the specific area of focus; common aches, pains and complaints; guides you through self-massage techniques; and offers self-care tools to add to your personal wellness toolkit.

These are safe, informal and interactive classes. Please wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing, and pack some personal water as you will be moving about in these workshops.

I look forward to learning together with you!

LYMPHATIC WELLNESS
the key to a strong immune system
2-2.5 hour class | in-person class
The lymphatic system is part of the immune system. It keeps body fluid levels in balance and defends the body against infections by filtering out any waste, bacteria, or foreign substances in the body. Lymphatic vessels, tissues, nodes, organs, and glands work together to drain a watery fluid called lymph from throughout the body.

In this 2-2 1/2 hour interactive workshop, you will:
  • Review the anatomy of your lymphatic system and discover where it is and how it works.
  • Understand the signs and symptoms of a congested lymphatic system
  • Participate in teacher led dry brushing, self-massage, and exercise to promote lymphatic flow
  • Take home printed resources and 1 dry brush

WHAT'S IN ONE BREATH?
the foundation of whole body wellness
2-2.5 hour class | in-person class
The muscles of respiration are the muscles that contribute to inhalation and exhalation, by aiding in the expansion and contraction of the thoracic cavity. The diaphragm and, to a lesser extent, the intercostal muscles (those between the ribs) drive breathing, but the vast host of accessory muscles  involved may just take your breath away!

In this 2 - 2 1/2 hour interactive workshop, you will:
  • Discover the anatomy of your muscles of inspiration and expiration and how they work, and work together
  • Understand how stress, posture and movement affect your breathing
  • Explore the history of a Breath Work Practice
  • Participate in teacher led breathing exercises
  • Take home printed breath work resources

DEMYSTIFYING THE PELVIC FLOOR
what's really going on down there?
2-2.5 hour class | in-person class
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, nerves and connective tissue that support the organs in the pelvis. It works with the deep abdominal and back muscles and the diaphragm to control the pressure inside the abdomen and support the spine. Pelvic floor muscles need to be flexible and be able to relax as well as lift and hold.

In this 2 -2  1/2 hour interactive workshop, you will:
  • Discover the anatomy of the pelvic floor, and the many muscles that work together with it to function properly
  • Understand the signs and symptoms of an imbalanced pelvic floor
  • Explore the connection between stress, posture and movement to the pelvic floor, lower back, and even your jaw!
  • Participate in teacher led breathing and movement exercises to promote balance in the pelvic floor
  • Take home Self-Care Journal, packed with pelvic floor resources

INTERACTIVE WELLNESS
understanding the body and it's care
Half Day | Full Day | Multiple Days
Are you looking for a speaker at your meeting, group, or class?
I am always happy to come and share an understanding about human anatomy and bring it into a relevant real-world context for the group of listeners. Short lectures are generally visual (if possible with projections), and interactive with participants discovering how their body works and how to take care of it with self-care practices.

I have enjoyed speaking and sharing with:
  • Classrooms K-12 (health, science, PE)
  • Post Secondary Classes
  • Women's Groups
  • Community Groups
  • Conferences and Events

I am happy to steer the conversation of self care and health to your group's interest with the guidance of the organizer. Let's connect and see how we can bring some awareness, knowledge and fun into our time together.
